    Threaded Barrel choices

I'm in the market for a threaded barrel. I have a M&P9 and a Glock 19. I was looking at Blacklist barrels, but are they the best choice? If you have a threaded barrel, what do you have and why/why not would you recommend it? Thanks!

I have never head of blacklist barrels, so I cannot speak of their reputation.

Lone Wolf is probably your best deal for a good barrel on the G19, $105

I know storm lake makes good stuff for the M&P, $218 for a threaded barrel

Adams Arms has their VDI barrels for the G19 now. Just got mine in and gotta say it's very nice. Lifecoat finish. Tolerances seem spot-on.
I'll be throwing some rounds down-range this weekend to test it out.

Check out their G17 page for specs. The G19 isn't "officially" released, but if you email them, they'll hook you up:

    Re: Threaded Barrel choices

Smith & Wesson has factory threaded barrels for the M&P9, assuming it is a full size. If you have the compact or the Shield then there are no threaded barrels that exist.

Glock also makes factory threaded barrels for the 19.

Otherwise the suggestions of Lone Wolf and Storm Lake are probably the best way to go. Those two companies have some of the biggest names when it comes to threaded barrels and both companies have a good reputation of providing good quality parts. You can buy direct from either company or buy through one of the major national retailers like Brownells. Some local shops have them sometimes, but that is hit and miss. If you want to stay local the two places I would suggest checking are with Bruce Stevens / MR SILENCER or Merchant Firearms.

I've noticed a lot of them are listed as "Match Grade" or "Fluted". Is there I big difference between MG/F and non MG/F?? Is it worth it to spend a little extra to get them?

    Re: Threaded Barrel choices

A match grade barrel is basically just a higher quality barrel capable of delivering better accuracy. I don't see much need in them personally. Any of the popular handguns (Glocks, M&Ps, XDs, 1911s, etc) are cable of shooting more accurate than most shooters can. Unless you're Jerry Miculek v2.0 then you probably won't get much accuracy benefit from a match grade barrel compared to your stock barrels.

    Re: Threaded Barrel choices

The Adams Arms VDI is Match grade and coated and the tolerances are better than the LW. Trust me, it's worth looking into. I've replaced my Lone Wolf in my G19 with it.

LW had a bit of a quality issue a few years ago. They've since corrected it (mine was not one with issue and performed flawlessly, FWIW).

Come to think of it....I have a used LW G19 barrel now, for sale, if interested. Lol.

BTW: I would be more concerned with MG than fluting on a pistol, if either. Just my opinion, but what John said. I'm not better than my handgun, myself, lol.
